How signature materials are created

If you want to learn more about signature fabrics, including the methods used to produce them, we encourage you to read the following article.

Signed fabrics - what are their characteristics?

Signed fabrics are fabrics decorated with the help of printing. With this technique, you get a uniform, smooth fabric in different colors. Many different types of fabrics, such as jersey, twill, silk, viscose or cotton, can be done this way. Matte and glossy fabrics, such as satin, are decorated in this way.

It is worth noting that not so long ago the term "signature fabric" referred primarily to fabrics decorated with patterns of famous manufacturers, designers or fashion houses. The most common motifs are animal, floral, plant, jewelry, nautical and geometric patterns. For this reason, popular patterns are very often associated with classics, glitz, glamour and timeless style referring to the most recognizable clothing collections.

In our wholesale store we offer a wide selection of signature fabrics. They are great for sewing elegant blouses and skirts, as well as lingerie and dresses. Among other things, you will find cotton printed with patterns characteristic of famous fashion brands, as well as many other fabrics Check out!

How is a signed fabric made?

Signed fabrics are an excellent option for those who like to surprise with the originality of their style. How is a similar effect achieved? Signature fabrics are created with the help of printing. Printing gives manufacturers the opportunity to design the pattern themselves. A given pattern can be applied to the fabric in several different ways, from the less complicated to the extremely high-tech In the table below, we highlight two of the most popular.

Inkjet printing

Digital printing

This process uses pigment or solvent ink. Solvent ink is a liquid that is homogeneous with dyes and allows for very high resolutions in prints. Unfortunately, due to its low durability, solvent ink is susceptible to fading, mechanical damage and moisture absorption. Pigment ink contains pigments, which have a higher resistance to external factors. However, it happens that due to its large droplet size, this ink makes it difficult for the pigments to mix together and limits the resolution of the print.

Digital printing involves creating an image on the printed material directly from the data sent from the computer without the need for intermediate media or printing forms. As a result, digital technology provides optimized printing costs and short preparation and turnaround times, making it ideal for low-volume printing. Digital printing allows modification of graphic and text elements for each print individually, which provides great freedom in personalizing printed materials.

There are several methods of digital printing:

- reactive printing

- acid printing

- sublimation printing

- pigment printing.

What fabrics are suitable for signature materials?

In theory, virtually any fabric is suitable for printing. By choosing the right material and the right technique for applying the print, you can create a one-of-a-kind fabric, decorated with a copyrighted print. What does it look like in practice?

The choice of the right material, depends on the chosen technique, and vice versa - the choice of technique, depends on the material on which you want to print. It is much easier to dye fabrics made of natural fibers, such as cotton, viscose, silk or wool. In the case of printing, such restrictions do not apply. Beautiful signature fabric can be both a synthetic material and a fabric of natural origin

The most important condition for creating signed fabrics however, is the structure of the fabric in question. The main condition that a given fabric should meet is a regular and smooth surface. This technique is not dedicated to decorating fabrics with visible texture. In the case of rough structures, the final effect that will be obtained may be difficult to predict. However, this does not mean that similar solutions are completely abandoned! Many fashion designers are eager to experiment with proprietary signature fabrics, thus achieving stunning effects
